Tony Luna Creative- Update- 5/2/2025

Editor’s Note: This is a special edition of the Tony Luna Creative/Blog. It is dedicated to helping Ibarionex and Cynthia Perello rebuild their lives after the devastating January fires destroyed their home. Ibarionex is a great artist and an alum of our Crafting a Meaningful Career Fall 2011 class. Like all of those who have taken our classes he is family, so we are reaching out to you to read their story and make a donation to their GoFundMe account.

Immediately after the disaster there was enthusiasm to lend a hand to the fire victims. But as time has passed the enthusiasm has waned and donations have slowed down. This is an attempt to keep interest in the Perello’s request for aid and to keep the needs of the others affected by the fires in mind.

Here is their updated story to give you some perspective of what they have endured and how you can help.

Thank you,

Tony Luna

March 17th, 2025 by IbarionexCynthia Perello, Organizer

I’m writing to you today with a very grateful yet heavy heart.

On January 7, 2025, our beloved home in Altadena, California, was completely destroyed by the Eaton wildfires. It wasn’t just a building; it was a sanctuary filled with love, forgiveness, and memories of years of hard work and resilience. The pain of losing everything is unbearable, and we’re struggling to find our way forward.

We have lost everything. The only thing we had when we fled our home was the shoes on our feet, my purse, our pajamas, three framed photos, my youngest sister Jacquelyn’s urn, and the urns from three of our fur babies who crossed over the rainbow

My wedding dress is what I think of the most. It was destroyed in the fire.

The recovery process will be long and tough. We’ve been displaced three times: first, the night of the fire, we fled to the Pasadena Convention Center wildfire evacuation site with our three-year-old dog Gracie, my eldest sister Saundra and her 17-year-old dog Bosco, and my husband. We all ended up in a tiny hotel room for almost a month (which cost us a fortune out-of-pocket) and then a friend helped us out at a more affordable Airbnb in Atwater for another month.

Finding a temporary place to live was a real challenge, especially with the high demand for housing.

After searching everywhere, we finally found a small rental on February 22, 2025. We have a 2 Year road (or more ) ahead of us and we need your continued support.

If compelled, please feel free to donate (or even donate again!) whatever you can to our GoFundMe page to help us with establish our life. And please feel free to share this with anybody that might be able to assist.

No sum is too small or too much.

We have a long distance to getting back to any type of normal life.

We are starting from ground zero.

Thank you for your love and various levels of support.
