- Justin Bastien- Adventure Photographer/Director-

Editor’s note: In a recent conversation with Photographer/Director Justin Bastien he mentioned he was off to shoot a piece for National Geographic in Yosemite, and that there was a new video on his website about how he prepares for and shoots his projects that was done for Red Bull and Vans titled, “Project Behind the Lens.” Justin was in one of our first classes in 2006 and he has come a long way in terms of fulfilling his goals of living the dream. We are proud of his accomplishments, and the accomplishments of all our Crafting a Meaningful Career participants, and we invite you to enjoy watching this video on his creative journey by clicking on, and then playing the “Project Behind the Lens” video. It will inspire and delight you and encourage you to “Do what you LOVE to do!”

- Editor’s note: We have recently received several requests from people on our mailing list regarding either starting, or joining existing meet-up groups for creative individuals. One of the challenges of being in the creative fields is that we often operate in isolation and we seldom have an opportunity to meet up with other like-minded people who wish to share their stories and be mutually helpful. The groups could be casual coffee meet-ups, or more industry specific, or anything in between. If you are interested in either starting a group or joining an existing group, don’t be shy, just email and your requests will be passed along, or with your permission, posted in this blog. It would be a great way to find your tribe, and how we can encourage each other to continue creatively growing and doing what we LOVE to do!

The group meet-up pictured above meets every Tuesday 4:30 to 6:00 when Art Center classes are in session. The group covers a wide variety of creative topics, and provides support by passing along important information while attempting to solve the world’s problems at Jones Coffee Roasters, 693 South Raymond Avenue, Pasadena. Come and join us if you are interested in meeting some of the people that inspire me on a weekly basis.

- Kit Baron, Sr. Vice President, Admissions & Enrollment Management-
Dear Art Center Community-
Admissions will be holding its annual Open House on Sunday, November 5th from 1:30 –4:30 p.m. on Hillside and South campuses. We will be using many of the facilities to showcase our undergraduate and graduate majors.  This is our major Open House for the year and the time when we welcome prospective students and their families to explore the campus and meet with the departments.  At the last Open House we hosted 700 students and their families.
The event is designed for prospective students, so If you know potential students who may want to learn more about Art Center’s  programs and the admissions process, we appreciate your forwarding the attached invitation. No r.s.v.p. is necessary.
Let us know if you have any questions about Open House, and as always, many thanks for your support.
Best regards-
Kit Baron
