The mission of the tonylunacreative.com web site took the ideas expressed in the Tony Luna Creative Vision Statement ("To enhance the creative product") and created a framework for the vision to be put into action.

The mission here is to provide a web site--a virtual community--where creative people could congregate at anytime and share ideas on how to rediscover their passion, provide support, inspire each other, and network about creative issues, and have access to classes and lectures. Each one of the tabs on the home page, and each of the sub-heads in the pull down menus address different aspects of the main goal to enhance creative productivity.

A word about Vision and Mission Statements:

A Vision Statement is a concise statement, usually in gerund form, which expresses the ideals, philosophy, and aspirations of a person or group. It quite often is something lofty, or altruistic, but it always must represent the best an individual or group has to offer. Some examples would be: "To protect and serve," (the Los Angeles Police Department); " …to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity…" (-the Constitution for the United States of America).

The purpose of the Mission Statement is to explain how you intend to put the Vision Statement into action. In the case of a creative entrepreneur one would define their constituency and then delineate how they would use their skills, experiences, technology, etc. to execute their Vision to that constituency.

Simply stated the Vision states the "why" and entity exists, and the Mission states in detail  "how" that entity intends to fulfill its roles.

Once the Vision and Mission Statements are formulated everyone concerned has a good idea of the core ideals, and methods to achieve the goals. It is my experience that the earliest signs that an entity is getting into trouble is when individuals, or factions, stray away from the core values set out in the Vision Statement and those individuals, or groups, create their own agendas thereby creating confusion which leads to a lack of direction. 

By focusing on a well constructed, adaptable, and shared Vision and Mission an entity can grow, stay on track, and flourish.
